Reading: We are wrapping up Reader's Theater. We practiced using inflection and intonation while reading. Students have also been working hard during our reading WINN time to identify different text structures and answer comprehension questions. Next week we will be making predictions as we read.
Word Study: Our test on long "-le" vowel patterns will be Friday. We will then begin to work with unaccented final syllable "-le,-el,-il,-al". Examples of words include: fossil, pencil, pupil, kennel, cancel, camel, journal, signal
Math: Fractions are well underway! Students have had time to explore our math tools (fraction strips and circles), and have begun representing fractions with numbers, pictures, and words. We will begin comparing fractions, finding equivalent fractions using our tools, and understanding fractions on a number line. Our math WINN time will focus on Area and Perimeter (additional practice and instruction, learning extension).

Science: Invisible Forces: discussing balanced and unbalanced forces, friction, and magnetic pull.
Social Studies: We are learning about how Michigan became a state, the pioneers, and the laws and people of our state. We will be testing on our unit toward the end of next week.
Writing: We have decided on our topic and are working to create chapters for our informational writing.
