Welcome to our 3rd grade blog!

Our 3rd Grade goal this year is to make communication easily accessible for families. Per our conversation at back-to-school night, itslearning will still be our primary source for classroom resources. This includes important websites, daily homework, word study lists, and any other classroom handouts. Our daily homework will continue to be located on our home page (and in their planner).

We understand the importance of quick, "right now" information, so we have decided to create this blog in addition to posting daily on itslearning. We have included the link to our itslearning pages for your convenience.

Thank you for reading along,
Mrs. Knuth, Mrs. Covert, and Mrs. Deis

Reading: We have been comparing and contrasting various text features in our reading. Next week we will begin meeting with reading groups and implementing Daily 5.
Word Study:  Next week we will be reading, sorting, and writing long i words. Thank you for practicing at home! The words will also be uploaded to Moby Max for additional practice.
Math:  Our first unit was a preview of many of our third grade standards we will be covering this year. We have practiced interpreting and graphing data and started sharing multiplication and division strategies.
Science: What an engaging unit! We have been investigating why plants give us fruit. Be sure to ask your child how to identify a fruit/vegetable with both their scientific brain and from a chef's/grocery store's perspective!
Social Studies:  5 themes of geography! Our goal will be to review our 5 themes and begin to practice for our test.
