Our Week in 3rd Grade (Oct. 12-16)

                               

      E.P. Clarke is very lucky to be partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Benton Harbor.  They are offering two wonderful character building classes for 3rd-5th grade boys and girls.  The classes are limited to 20 boys and 20 girls, so get your applications in early! Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at E.P. Clarke from 4-6pm from October 23rd to November 29th.  See the flyer in your students blue take-home folder for details.

3rd Grade Star Students

Reading: We have been discussing the features of a Biography. Next week we will be visualizing and focusing on character traits. e will continue meeting with reading groups and implementing Daily 5. 
Word Study:  Next week we will be reading, sorting, and writing "long u" words. Thank you for practicing at home! The words will also be uploaded to Moby Max for additional practice. We will have our test every F day. 
Math: We're continuing to develop math workshop time so students can have more independent practice. We will also be spending time on two-step word problems. This would be a great time to start practicing basic multiplication facts with your child!
Science: This week we have been investigating how and why fruits and vegetables come in various shapes and sizes. 
Social Studies We will begin Chapter 1 in our Social Studies book on Michigan history. 
Writing: Students will be interviewing each other and writing a biography about that child. We will spend the week interviewing, writing, and editing our work. 

Itslearning is still our primary source for classroom resources. This includes important websites, daily homework, word study lists, and any other classroom handouts. Our daily homework will continue to be located on our home page (and in their planner).
